Please note that, effective June 1, 2016 styrofoam is NOT recyclable. Please click on the Quick Reference below for an updated sorting guide.

Curbside Pickup

Curbside pickup is available in the Village of Killaloe only.

Garbage:

Must be placed at the curbside no later than 12 noon on Wednesdays.

All occupants shall place garbage in clear plastic bags, and may place the bag in a plastic or aluminium garbage can.

Each garbage bag must have an affixed sticker approved by the township. The fee for residential garbage disposal is $2.00 per bag.

There should be no hazardous waste, grass clippings, leaves, brush, garden waste, scrap lumber or other building materials, stumps or logs, metal, stone, brick, concrete, ashes, appliances, water heaters, furniture or other large items.

Garbage bags or cans should be placed at the end of the occupant's driveway so that they do not impede pedestrians or traffic.

Recycling:
Items for recycling should be placed at the curbside for pickup by 8:00 a.m.

Waste Disposal Site Locations And Hours

Killaloe Site - 1049 Mask Road

(Part Lot 7 Concession 8, Hagarty Township)
Killaloe Site Accepts:
Household Waste and Recyclables (Including Cardboard),
Pine Needles, Grass Clippings, Leaves, Scrap Metal,
Brush (No Stumps or Logs), Sorted Demolition Material, Furniture,
Painted Wood, Tires, Fire Clean-Up Debris
Hours:
  • Wednesday 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
  • Friday 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM
  • Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM


Round Lake Site - 168 Sunrise Road
(Part Lot 27 Concession 3, Richards Township)
Round Lake Site Accepts:
Household Waste and Recyclabes (Excluding Cardboard)
Hours:
  • Thursday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Sunday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Special Exceptions:

May to October Holiday Long Week-Ends:
Round Lake Site will be CLOSED on Sundays.

Holiday Mondays (May - October):
The Round Lake Site will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding Canada Day.

Sites are closed:
Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Canada Day. Please note there is no curbside pick up on these days. During Christmas Holidays, there may be additional closures. Watch the front page under NEWS for this information.

Waste Disposal Tipping Fees

ALL GARBAGE MUST BE PROPERLY BAGGED AND SECURED
IN CLEAR 26"X36" GARBAGE BAGS, WITH THE APPROPRIATE STICKER ATTACHED.
ONE SMALL PAPER BAG, GROCERY BAG, ETC., MAY BE PLACED INSIDE OF THE CLEAER BAG TO HOLD PERSONAL ITEMS.

Tipping fees shall be paid to the waste site attendant
upon entry to the site and before disposing of
chargeable items.


Tags for Bagged Household Waste:
$2.00 per bag

Commercial Users:
$2.00 per bag

Unsorted: Please note: We DO NOT accept unsorted demolition material.

Tires:
Accepted at the Killaloe Site at No Charge - Rims MUST be removed and can be disposed of in the metal pile. Tires with rims will not be accepted.

Furniture/Mattress:
$15.00 per piece

At the discretion of the Waste Site Attendant, some furniture pieces may be placed in the "Second Chance" Building at the Killaloe Waste Disposal Site.

There is no charge for leaving these items, but they must be in acceptable condition.

Due to safety concerns, no car seats or baby/child furniture
will be accepted at the "Second Chance" building.
Refrigerators and Other Appliances Containing Freon or Other Refrigerants:
These will be accepted at the Killaloe Waste Site only.
The unit's door must be removed.
$35.00 per Appliance

Certain items are accepted without charge:
Tires without rims, scrap metal, recyclables (glass, paper, tin cans, etc), appliances (that do not contain freon).

Recycling

All refuse that can be recycled is required to be recycled.

Curbside pickup is only available within the Village of Killaloe.

Please remember that all recyclables, whether picked up curbside, or taken to the waste site, have to be sorted. Click here for a sorting list.

Commercial users cannot place cardboard in their blue boxes for pick-up within the village of Killaloe.

**The following items will not be accepted for recycling:

Plastic bags with the #7 recycling symbol (#7 hard plastic containers are accepted), soiled plastic bags, e.g. bags from potting soil, fertilizer, etc., plastic bags or plastic film covering that has been in contact with meat or dairy, e.g. plastic film from meat or cheese trays, biodegradable, degradable or compostable plastic bags and plastic film, cellophane, clear, crinkly/non-stretch plastic, e.g. bubble plastic from razor blade package, food containers that do not have a recycling number of them, food/cling wrap, e.g. Saran Wrap, potato chip bags, cookie bags or chocolate bar wrappers, pasta bags, cereal or cracker box wax paper liners, beverage six-pack plastic rings, plastic bubble wrap, plastic shrink wrap, boat wrap, agricultural wrap, e.g. from hay bales, styrofoam and styrofoam pellets (like those used to package electronics), textiles(clothing), carbon paper, pocket novels.

#4 Film Plastic including grocery and shopping bags, bread bags, outer wrap from cases of water, toilet paper, paper towels, etc., milk bags (not the inside bags that contain the milk).

Hazardous Waste

Hazardous Waste is not allowed to be left or deposited at any of our municipal waste disposal sites and cannot be put out for curbside collection!

Some examples of hazardous waste:
motor oil herbicides insecticides
acids (muriatic, etc.) caustics (lye) paint
glues gasoline drain and oven cleaners
bleach aerosol cans pool chemicals
solvents (nail polish remover, varsol) pesticides pharmaceuticals
antifreeze ammonia
cleaning fluids

Metal gas containers, propane tanks and all other fuel tanks/containers
are considered hazardous and will not be accepted at any waste disposal sites
operated by the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards.

Every year the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards hosts a Household Hazardous Waste Day Event so that you can dispose of these materials safely.
Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for August 12, 2023
9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Public Works Yard - 16370 Highway 60
